They are made using scraps, usually from other projects. I use the lightweight sew-in interfacing as a backing for them. 9 1/2" square. Start in the middle of the square laying the first strip corner to corner, on the diagonal. Then the next strip is laid on, right sides together and sewn with a 1/4" seam. Continue doing this to the end of the corner, turn it around and do the other side. Sew all around the square block and then trim of the excess pieces. Put on sashing and borders, sandwich with backing, do binding and you're finished. I love them, too. It's a good way to use up some of your scraps. I pick fabrics that are suitable for boys, girls or either. Have fun!
