Elegant Room Box
Seems like I haven't posted anything new here in forever! I have had a couple of requests lately and I appreciate the help that has been offered! A big shout out goes to all of you that helped me figure out some mini things I've been working on.
Another project I spent some time on the last few days is this roombox. It's quite large length wise but is only about 4 inches deep. Which is really nice if you want to display a lot of minis at close range. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with this yet, whether to keep it or sell it on Ebay. I really don't have a use for it right now and I do have another kit just like this in case I do need it for my own collection.
Which do you like to use? Dollhouses or roomboxes? I only have one dollhouse, the Bellingham farm House. It's all I have room for in this house. So I prefer roomboxes. Which I have several of. Some of which I've shown here on my blog.
So anyways...here are a few pics of the construction of this newest roombox.

Here I"m getting ready to add the angled wall.
This roombox has an angled wall on the left hand side, with a window that you can place a scene behind. Kinda cool!
A nice little window scene. A victorian garden.
And this is the mess I was left with when I finished!
And here is the box completed. I even added the crown moulding on the ceiling. Oh my what a hassle that was cutting all those angles. But I managed to do it adventually. Took a few cuts before I got them right! HA!

Bag From Straw Hat Material
Does any one that may be out there reading my blog have or know of a tutorial to make a basket/purse using the miniature hat straw? I want to make one to go in my basket roombox. I've been experimenting but it's not going really well and I don't want to waste a lot of material or time trying to figure it out myself. I don't have a lot of either. Time or materials I mean! HA! I'll see if I can add a pic that will give you an idea of what I'm trying to do. I know I've seen a tutorial someplace but darn I can't find it now that I need it! Of Course! Isn't that the way it goes?
Thanks for any help anyone can throw my way!

Oh My Where Has the Time Gone?
I can't really believe that the time has just flown by so fast. The summer is basically over, fall is here and soon the snow will be flying! Maybe with the cold weather I will be able to get on here and blog a bit more. I've been reading as much as I can find time for but haven't been posting in my own blog or commenting as I should.
I need some help.....I have been trying and trying to leave comments on blogs but blogger is not letting me. I read someplace that you need to download Google Chrome but my computer won't let me download that either. I'm so sad not to be able to leave comments on everyone's blogs. If there is anyone still reading on mine could you please help me?
Thank you!!!!

I've been gone a long time
And I sincerely apologize. I promise to get back into the swing of things. I'll be back to show you some of the minis I've been making! Did you see the article in the American Miniaturist Mag about the ladies boutique!!! There were pictures in there of my Ladies Boutique, Fab Shabby Rose Boutique. Along with some pictures of the roomboxes of some of the ladies in our miniature group. Read the article and tell me what you think!
Stay tuned! I'll have some pics of some cool minis really soon! And I need to get on with a give-away in celebration of reaching 100 followers. I'm over 100 now! So check back in for some much needed fun!
Have a great day!

CROSS STITCH DOLLHOUSE KIT
I've been a bad bad blogger with no posts in a very long time. But real life has kept me extremely busy so there has been no time to record anything here. Thanks to a very nice customer that has become a dear friend I have this new project that is taking a bit of my time in the evenings now. These pictures represent a few hours of work but there is so many hours left! It's so relaxing to work on this new piece. I think it's going to be beautiful. I have the prefect place to display it once it's finished. In my dining room near my dollhouse. I think it would look nice hanging in my granddaughters room too so we'll see once I really do get it finished where it might end up. I think that's quite a long time from now!
Don't forget to poke the picture twice to make it larger so you can see the picture of the dollhouse better. This kit is absolutely amazing. It's made by Pako. The quality is wonderful. The threads come all seperated for you and hanging on a neat little hanger. I'm so excited to have this to work on. I've admired it for a long time but it just wasn't something that I could splurge on for myself. I was reduced to tears when a wonderful friend said she had purchased it for me as a gift and it was on it's way to me from the UK. What a sweet thing for her to do. Thank you C!

6 More Weeks of This?
I guess it could be worse....we could be at the beginning of the winter rather than having it winding down.
Pictures above are my backyard. Well we have a lot of backyard, 6 1/2 acres of it. So this is a small portion of my backyard. It's very wintery. You can see the barn is buried in snow. I don't think we can slide the door open at this point. The snow is amost thigh high down there. Guess I'll stay up here and look at it out the window!
Lots of mini work going on but none ready for pictures yet! Soon tho!
Have a wonderful warm day today....whereever you may be!

Baby It's Cold Outside!!!
Incredibly cold to be presise. OMG! Just a bit north of us it was -33 this morning. Guess we were lucky! Not so lucky tho when the power went off. It was off for 1 1/2 hours. No heat. It had only got down to 63 degrees here in the house when the power came back on so it was OK. But I was a bit nervous, not knowing for sure when it would be coming back on. And not being able to open the garage door meant not being able to get out to go someplace warmer. But I could have gotten a neighbor to lift it open for me. It's 16' wide and way to heavy for me to lift. But the power came back on and all was well!
I've been missing from the blogging world for a quite some time. Between the Holidays, the sicknesses going around and a million other life stuff I just haven't had the time to post. But I have been reading!
I have been doing some miniatures lately so will try to get some pictures of what I've been working on. As soon as I manage to finish them!
I also just noticed that I've jumped over the 100 follower mark. 100 followers, who would have thought? But this means I should have a give-away! Hummmm let me think on this and I'll be getting back on that!

Merry Christmas!!!!!
I hope everyone was able to enjoy this holiday weekend regardless of how you're spending it. I pray that everyone is able to connect with someone they care about! We have family all around, some that aren't able to come home for the Holidays but we always make a phone call to keep those family ties tied nice and tight! And we had a wonderful time the last couple of weeks reconnecting and catching up with extended family near and far. Yesterday my hsuband and I and our 3 daughters, 2 of our soon to be son-in-laws, (did I mention we have 2 daughters getting married this coming summer?) and our oldest daughter and her husband, and their 3 children, our only grandchildren...(so far) gathered at our daughter and son-in-laws house for our family Christmas. We've done that the last couple of years because they have the only children in the family so far and it's easier for us to all gather there and save the little ones from having to leave their new gifts and travel out. I know that in years to come that will have to change as the family grows. But for now it works for all.
I wanted to show you an ornament I found at Lowes Home Improvement Store for 60% off a couple of days ago. I only paid $1.92 for it. Right in my very small budget! A gift from me to me! It's a Retro console television with a 3D winter scene on the inside. I tried to get a good picture of it but it was a bit hard. I have it hanging on the tree now but soon it will go into my Santa and Mrs Claus Christmas Roombox. I'll show you later this week how I managed to squeeze it into that roombox! What a find! I was so excited when I saw it. I'm afraid it might not be the exact scale but I'm going to make it work! LOL!

I think I'm done!
For now at least! Here are a few more outfits for the granddaughters dolls. This was so addicting. I could have sewed and sewed and sewed! In fact I have a few more all cut out and sitting in a pile, waiting. If I have time before the BIG day I'll sew up a few more. Otherwise I'll get back to them after the holiday hoopla is over.
The colors are off a bit because of our grey skies lately. We've been getting tons and tons of snow. But along with that has come the gray skies and swirling winds.
Don't forget to poke the pictures and you'll get to see them closer.

Hurry, Hurry, Hurry
This is what happens when you wait until the last few weeks before Christmas to finish up all those gifts. I've been crocheting scarves, making little girls doll clothes, for the new dolls the granddaughters are getting for Christmas from their other grandparents, decorating bath towels, Christmas parties on the weekends and all of the regular stuff that life dictates all week long.
Here's a picture of two of the doll dresses. I have pants and tops, raincoats, pinafores, and more dresses to sew. I'm going to keep going until I either run out of time or get sick of making doll clothes and need to move to something else. The dresses are laying on my yellow table placemats. Guess I should have moved those, since the yellow dress seems to blend right in. The patterns for these clothes are ones I bought off ebay. They're for American Girls dolls.
Don't forget to poke the picture twice for a super closeup look. But don't look too close LOL! I'm not the best seamstress, I just get by, by faking it!

Have a great weekend everyone! Stay warm and stay safe with all these storms that have been passing thru. The cities just above us were blasted with almost 50" of snow coming off of Lake Ontario. Luckily we only had about 12 or 14 inches. And that has now settled to about 6 inches with some nice sunshine. But they say another storm is on it's way up thru PA. So those are always the bads ones for us.
And Hurry, Hurry, Hurry and get all those last minute things done because Christmas Eve will be here before you know it and then it'll be too late!

My Dollhouse In Progress
I hope everyone that celebrates Thanksgiving had a wonderful Holiday. I hope you were able to spend it with friends/family and doing what you enjoy. I cooked dinner here at my house this year and spent it with my grown children. We had a wonderful time. After dinner some of us played games with the little ones, watched a movie, Grown-Ups, and football of course, and looked thru all the store adds for Black Friday in the 3 different towns that our family lives. Those were all great things to do while our food settled and we enjoyed each others company!
I'm including a picture today of the dollhouse that I've been working on for... ahhhhh.... I'm embarressed to say.....probably close to 6 years. I've worked on it off and on, sometimes putting it up for a year or more at a time. Every winter I tell myself that I'm going to get it out and all the materials from the box and I'm going to just finish it up. It really wouldn't take much to get it done.....but alas I don't end up doing enough to barely notice. Maybe this winter I will finally get it done. I would really like to finish it. I have most of the rooms wallpapered already and I'm upset that I didn't add electric to this house. At the time I had started work on this house, I'd never done electric and never gave it a thought to do it to this house. Since then I've done a roombox with electricity and know a bit more about it. I really don't want to have to tear all the wallpaper off to add electric so I think I'll just forgo it. I've really spent most of my time since starting this house working with roomboxes. But I need to get back to this and get it finished.
Have a great day everyone!
